Legacy Writing Contests

One-Page Brilliance

  • We celebrate precision, originality, and emotional or intellectual impact.

Creative > Academic

  • No long research papers. Just original storytelling in a defined style.

Short & Sweet

  • Most contests can be completed in 1–3 focused hours. Yet remarkable writing often requires refinement..

Literary Legacy Format

  • Each contest is based on a legendary author’s tone, technique, or form.

Submission Guidelines

1. All entries must be written in English and be the original work of the student.

2. Word count limits and genre requirements vary by contest. Please refer to the specific contest page for exact format and expectations.

3. No AI-generated writing is allowed. We want your voice, not artificial ones.

4. All submissions must be entered using the official contest submission form. You may email us at info@legacycontests.com with your questions, but only work submitted through our official submission form will be considered - email submissions or alternate formats will NOT be accepted.

5. Students may enter multiple contests per cycle, but may only submit one entry per contest per quarter.

6. The Legacy Writing Contests welcome a wide range of creative expression. However, entries containing hate speech, gratuitous violence, or explicit content without literary purpose will be disqualified.

7. Entries may explore personal, political, or sensitive topics, as long as they are approached with integrity, respect, and thoughtful craft.

8. Refer to our writing center to access tips, examples, and resources for young writers to help you in your quest to become a Legacy Writer!

Awards & Recognition

1. All submissions received by the quarterly deadline will be reviewed by an international panel of educators, writers, and judges.

2. Each piece is evaluated using a standardized rubric that considers:

  • Voice and style

  • Originality and concept

  • Literary technique

  • Emotional or intellectual depth

  • Clarity, flow, and overall impact

3. Judging is blind. The panel does not have access to personal or identifying information when reviewing submissions.

Final scores are calculated as an average across multiple independent judges. Awards are determined based on cumulative ranking and panel consensus.

4. Each quarter, the highest-scoring submissions in each contest receive official recognition through the following award tiers: Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Honorable Mention (awarded at judges’ discretion)

5. To be eligible for official awards, students must complete registration and submit the entry fee at the time of submission.

6. Entrants may submit one entry per contest per quarter, and are welcome to enter multiple contests in the same cycle.

7. Award notifications and digital certificates are sent directly to participants by email within 21 days of each contest deadline.

8. $29.00 Registration Payment is required to be eligible for judging, awards, and publication of the submission. Email our team at info@legacycontests.com if you need financial assistance.

9. Winning entries may be selected for publication on the Legacy Writing Contests website or spotlighted through affiliated newsletters, blogs, and journals.
